summers end is 'round the bend

are we going to accomplish the essences??? is everyone still on board to finish out the summer and take on the fall???
i miss you two- i can't see you faces. i can't give salena my 'stupid' face (i got caught giving my sister-in-law that face today, but she didn't think it was too funny... ooops.) and i miss catching amy's 'avery' face. i miss hearing salena start a story and realize midway through that it wasn't as great as she thought it would be.
my ladies- throw yourselves into the essence of summer- i need to know your details- i need to read your funnies-!!!

salena's essence #2

boy oh boy did we roadtrip! we started off to logan, utah to attend an old buddie's wedding and to visit our good friends the stones. it was a heck-of-a long day. we left around 11am and got there at 1 in the morning.

after our visit to good ol' logan, we were off to colorado. we left around noon and arrived at 10pm. the kids were so sick of the car by then, and i had run out of fun snacks so there was a lot of screaming.
around 8:30 gunnar said to me, "mom! every time i do anything you always say 'NO'!!!"
but we arrived and glad to be out of the car for another few weeks!!!

Essence of Summer #31

tyler thought it would be appropriate to add another essence to the list. (any other husbands on board with the whole essence thing?) so here it is:
grow a baby!

mamma mia foreva!

so- i watched mama mia- while ironing- and dancing- and i burned myself twice.
but i LOVED it, again. i love all the songs- and i love that it reminds me of you tw0 for some reason. my favorite part is when they are singing 'the dancing queen' and all the women of the village recklessly abandon their duties and thier men to parade through the streets dancing!
i could sing those songs all day- i love songs that you just HAVE to dance too, no matter how much the boys in your home beg you to stop!
hope you two enjoy it as much as i did!

Jazz-Age Dance Party!!!!

so, looking at the sartorialist blog lately, a party was photographed, and i wanted to be there. i looked it up: it is a bi-annual party on at the tip of manhattan. they invite you to take a trip back in time to the flapper age and flap on!!!
i decided that this would someday be an essence- when we all have lots of money and we can meet in manhattan and party on!!!
take a look!!!

renewing my vows.

okay. so, as i have informed you both, i have been dead to the friendship world of late. a deflated balloon. a cracked whistle. a noisy dishwasher.
and though i am still healing... from what? i am not even quite sure yet. i know it has been a tough bit of road in my mind lately but, i AM mending my mind. and that is worth something.
with that being said....
i have re-committed myself to the essences. i never abandoned them really, i just put them off a bit, not sure that my efforts would deliver the needed result. could a blog really REALLY be my friend?
(what a sad sack, right???)
BUT!!!!
i just did my nails (thanks to your fave things amy), ate a delicious toasted turkey&chz sandwich, and i have been compiling my summer mix (finally) and, i will admit, my fall mix as well. (that way, i can get it to you BEFORE fall ends!!!)
i need your address amy.
are we finished with OUR summer mix? i think i want to get a copy so i can take it with me on our road trip to utah/colorado. it would be the perfect time to play a soundtrack over and over and over.
we are off to colorado soon, and i am so excited to make it the workshop of my essences. i will have you both close to me there.
gahl i miss you two.
i am surprised by it. i thought the essences would fill the void, but it just reminds me how present it is.
love love and more love.

...smell-a-licious...

Photobucket

smell delicious, smell smell delicious...yay!

hi friends!

my sense of smell is NOT my super sense, and i haven't ever paid it the right amount of attention until THIS summer! without this essence i would continue to exist in a scent-less world and never know the olfactory scent-sations that surround me.

the best smells that do reside in amy world are:

1. brennen
2. new born babies who only drink breastmilk
3. coconut tanning oil
4. random breezes that carry floral scents
5. laundry

so let's talk about numero uno, ichiban, ekahi...brennen. when we first started dating, about 6 years ago, he started to wear very sexy from victoria secret. i love it. it smells delicious. since then he hasn't changed his cologne scent. he does wear different body sprays or nice smelling deodorants, but all special occasions are very sexy occasions. so, when i was looking for my scent it made sense (no pun intended) to go to victoria secret. and i chose VERY SEXY HOT. it smells, well, very sexy and hot.

it is perfect. it's named hot, which it frickin' is here in az. i love the smell. and i think it's a little bit cool, just a little bit, not enough to collage a picture over, that brennen and i have complimentary smells.

so now that we all smell good...let's go make-out in some driveways people! (it's an essence, and i don't mean with each other...steven.)
